Summer brides may feel they should stick to a traditional, natural look with pastels and nude/pink tones, in keeping with the classic colour schemes for that time of year. However, off-peak brides can take advance of the richer colours usually associated- burgundy's, coppers, reds, plums and golds, perfect if you are looking to have a stronger makeup, or something different to a typical classical bridal look! Don't get me wrong- natural colours still work great too, you just have more options! For brides who love sparkle, the artificial lighting, used more frequently in off-peak weddings, works brilliantly with this type of makeup too, bringing out glitters and sparkles much better than natural light. Sammy taylor photographyWEDDING PREP Wedding mornings in the Summer months can be stifling, particularly if you happen to pick a day with temperatures in the high 20s/early 30s! Especially when a little nervousness or tension is added to the mix, I have seen many brides wishing their day wasn't quite so hot and humid!! Autumn/Winter weddings provide a much more pleasant temperature for getting ready in, with no fans or air-con needed! :) david king photographyDURING THE DAY Hot temperatures can be a challenge to both makeup artists and hairdressers alike. Brides wearing their hair down may find curls drop quicker, or they get hot at the nape of their neck. Makeup on a very hot day can be prone to movement or shine, especially on an oily skin, so pressed powder may need to be applied frequently if a matt look is desired. Sun protection may also be needed, which can bring it's own challenges with regard to photography. Autumn/Winter brides need not worry, with cooler temperatures- maintaining hair and makeup is a breeze! Olegs Samsonovs PhotographyI love working on Autumn/Winter weddings and as you can see there are so many makeup advantages at this time of year! I am sooooo looking forward my busiest off-peak season yet, and working with all my Autumn/Winter brides, to create a stunning look, suited both to them, and their day as a whole.
